  • Arrived in Guanjuato & waited in lots of lines today
  • I ate an expensive salad at the Houston Airport, but it was tasty!

(I have decided I am not translating everything so you've got to do some working and studying on your own, but I'll sum up the highlights in English.)

  • I met a young man traveling from Charleston, West Virginia and he is going to be studying at the University of Guanajuato to prepare for a semester study-abroad trip this fall in Murcia, Spain.  He's majoring in International Business with a minor in Spanish.
  • I did not get a picture of him as I was afraid he would be offended.

Waiting/Esperando to check-in at O'Hare for 1 hr 20 min's.

Al aeropuerto de O'Hare

¡Mi ensalada cara, cuesta $15.08!

Arrival Area - Immigration & Customs behind the glassed-in area.

Mexican Immigration - Visting forms.
I had to show with my passport to enter Mexico & they stamped it!

Customs Area - La sala de Aduana

Customs Form - I had to declare what items I was carrying into the country.
Mainly that I wasn't carrying $10,000 or more dollars, that I was traveling with a laptop and that I'd be visiting for 38 days, which for some reasons sounds shorter than 5 weeks.

I was in the customs area in the Mexican airport for at least 45 minutes in line.
One of the kids was whining in Spanish that we had been waiting forever and if we were ever going to get out of line.  Another boy kept asking his mother if we were really in Mexico.  He saw his father a few minutes later and it was a joy to see him so excited to see his Dad.

Megan, you are so dear to me, it is such a shame I have not seen you in so long. I think of you often and wish you well always. I hope you can continue to check in.
